Anne’s Vision

“My life long passion has been always will be to help giraffes to survive and thrive in the wild. In order to achieve this, we must focus on conservation of their environment which is currently being compromised on many different levels. With giraffe numbers now in peril, we must act and act quickly. This Foundation has been created to raise awareness and funding for initiatives to further the efforts around conservation within Africa by engaging the locals and their communities. By reading this, you have already started your journey on being part of the solution. Long Live Giraffe!”

Anne Innis Dagg, 1956, South Africa

Why Giraffe Need Our Help

At the heart of Anne’s mission are her beloved giraffe. Sadly, their numbers have plunged by 40% over the last 30 years from approximately 150,000 in 1985 to less than 100,000 in 2015. Their numbers are declining as a result of habitat encroachment, illegal hunting and ecological changes like drought and global warming. Giraffes were finally upgraded to “vulnerable to extinction” on the International Union for the Conservation of Nature Red List of Threatened Species in 2016. This categorization puts them just one ranking below “endangered”. Anne Innis Dagg’s mission is to draw attention to the challenges wild giraffes are facing in Africa and encourage more people to support conservation.
