Stuffed Giraffe

CA$45.00

Each giraffe is handcrafted and inspired by the giraffes made by Anne's mother, Mary Quayle Innis, when Anne was a child and sick with Scarlet Fever. No two are alike - just like a giraffe's spot pattern.

Lovingly handmade by Kaela Barnes, a recent graduate of the Seneca College Fashion Arts & Fashion Business Management program.

Each giraffe stands approx. 13” tall and 7” wide.

The tag included with each giraffe tells the full story of Anne’s original giraffes:

In 1944, Anne Innis Dagg, age 11, was diagnosed with scarlet fever and sent to an isolation hospital. For comfort she brought a stuffed giraffe handmade by her mother, Mary Quayle Innis. Anne was told that it may need to be destroyed upon her discharge. She was heartbroken. Her mother immediately began sewing two more. Once cleared to go home a kind nurse sterilized the giraffe and let Anne take it home, leaving her with a total of three beloved giraffes that she still has to this day!

This giraffe is inspired by Anne’s giraffes. Handmade by Kaela Barnes.

Proceeds from all purchases go to Anne Innis Dagg Foundation initiatives.

Note: a PayPal account is not required to make a purchase by credit card as a “guest” option is available.
